As climate change accelerates, cities are on the front lines, both in experiencing its impacts and in crafting solutions. Sheila Foster works to ensure urban climate adaptation strategies are not only effective but equitable. Her research focuses on environmental and climate equity, with an emphasis on co-creating solutions with frontline communities.
โOften the people who live in these communities have already been working on solutions,โ says Foster, a professor at the Columbia Climate School. โWhat they need are toolsโlegal, policy and institutionalโto scale those solutions in partnership with government.โ
